DoneTown
DoneTown was my first project in Web3, initiated in early 2024, though unfortunately, it was halted during the planning phase.
As a loyal user of productivity tools, I constantly try out various efficiency products, but sadly, I end up abandoning each one after a month or two. While each product has its unique selling points, the initial excitement always fades, and I lose the motivation to continue.
This led me to wonder if there could be a product that, through some form of incentive, could maintain users’ interest long-term. This idea sparked the concept of DoneTown, combining Web3’s incentive mechanisms to create a “Lock To Earn” model. The aim was to encourage users to stay focused and avoid checking their phones in a gamified task management app.
I used this concept in a few business competitions, where it received satisfying results, so I considered pursuing the project further. However, due to a lack of startup funding and limited technical expertise in our team, we eventually couldn’t sustain it.
At the time, I thought that maybe someday I could bring this idea to life and launch it in the market. But looking back now, I realize that the idea was somewhat naive. There are already many similar products in the market, and ours lack a distinctive edge. Web3-based incentives come with their own challenges—the incentive mechanisms are complex, and the user base for Web3 differs significantly from Web2.
Still, who knows? Perhaps someday, the inspiration from DoneTown will help me develop another project. Look forward to that.
